Tessallations for maths

As I've been a bit under the weather today and yesterday.  I thought it would be a bit fun to do some tracing and tessallations with the girls.  Well, C was the only one who took any interest in the tessallations, but she had a lot of fun with it.

It was someone I follow on twitter who gave me the idea.  She does the most amazing doodles and that got me thinking about tessallations and how much fun they can be.  So today I have been googling and came across a few handy links.  One is an interactive activity which is fun and this is another called Tessallation town

I found a really handy teaching resource on tessallation.  Along with some beautiful examples to inspire.

Here's an extra resource you might find useful!

  1. I popped along here from @liveotherwise blog carnival and Wow, ok I've never heard of tassellations! I *think* they look a lot of fun; they remind me of books I used to get as a kid - black and white outlines of random shapes that I used to colour in. The examples are inspiring for sure - thanks so much for sharing!

I missed the deadline but would love you to take a look at the 10 free Home Ed resources I listed on my site today: http://littlegreenblog.com/family-and-food/green-parenting/free-home-education-resources/

  2. Those books full of patterns will indeed be tesselations. Learning is certainly more fun when you mix it with things the kids love such as art :)
