Art: Make a Twinkly Star

Someone pointed out to me that this would make a great christmas craft.  We made this one to go with Harmonie's nursery rhyme project - this time it was Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

If you want to make one yourself this is how we made ours...

First you will need:

  • 6 lolly sticks (we used jumbo ones)
  • Glue (PVA is best for little people or you could use wood glue)
  • Paint - we used silver
  • Glitter - we used silver and gold
  • Pipe-cleaner
Step one
Get two lolly sticks and put some glue at the end then stick them together to make a 'V' shape...

Step two
Add a third stick with some more glue to make a triangle shape...

Step three
Add the fourth stick, using more dots of glue, soit crosses through your triangle like this..

Step four
Weave the fifth stick through gluing it to one end of the fourth srick like this...

Step five
Add the sixth stick, the last one, and stick it to the other end of the fouth stick and the other end of the fifth stick like this...

Step six
Wait for the glue to completely dry.

Step seven
Let your little person paint their star and then dust with some glitter.

Step Eight
Add your pipe cleaner.  Bend it in half and twist it round the top corner of your star.

Now you can hang it anywhere and then sing Twinkle, Twinkle.  Or if you want it as a christmas decoration you could use it as a tree topper or hang it from the tree or anywhere else you can think.
