With all this sun it's difficult to make sure the plants are getting enough water. So as a busy home educating family we thought of a way to keep the plants hydrated and happy and the girls got a bit of drilling practice too...
SAFETY: Before I start I will say be careful when drilling and responsible adult MUST always be present and helping during this project.
We used a hand drill, a size 3 drill bit, a 50cl bottle of water with its lid.
We drilled at least 3 holes sometimes 4 into the bottles lid like this...
Then all you do fill it with water and then put it upside down in an upright position directly in the soil like this...
If it is leaning even slightly they will leak the water out too quickly.
