Make your own play food

 

All you need is...

Salt dough
Paint
varnish
imagination!

This is how we made the hotdog..

First you will need to made 3 shapes like this...

 

The big bit will be your bun and it was about 2.5 inches long (6cm) a smaller bit shaped like a sausage and a long thin bit about 3 inches (7.5cm) long.  As you can see this art less can, if you'd like, involve a bit of maths with all the measuring you could do.

 

With a butter knife I cut the big one as if it was a bun like this...

 

Then put the pieces together to look like this...

 

You can make anything though like this ham sandwich...

 

Cake...

 

And then when they have been baked (it took 6-8 hours for these on 75 degrees C) and cooled you can paint them like this...

You can also varnish them for a shinier finish if you want to.
